The Tenet Trailer
Technically, its the second "Tenet" trailer but, oh, what a trailer.
"This reversing the flow of time, wasn't us being here now, I mean it never happened."
Time inversion.
Woo, I'm all in on that!
Let me tell what especially intrigued me about this new trailer.
This.
It's not that impressed that Elizabeth Debicki's still unnamed character would make a good mother. Of that I have no doubt. It is the fact why they decided to show this scene at all.
It it's pretty obvious she has a great deal of affection for the boy. But, why would this be important to us?
Remember, we are talking time inversion here. And it's not like you have to turn back the entirety of time. You can turn back specific instances.
You know, like catching a bullet and not shooting one.
It's my theory that Debicki's character is trying to turn back the clock on a major figure in this movie and that figure is this man.
Kenneth Branagh's character. Also, still unnamed. How's that for a twist? Now, the machinations of Debicki's character getting Branagh's character "inverted" I haven't quite worked out yet. Did she have it done to prevent what he is to become? Or, did he do it himself for some other reason? Perhaps to avoid whatever apocalypse he is cooking up. I've even considered Debicki's character inserted herself into young Branagh's life to foil whatever plan he is cooking up.
We did get this interesting little snippet where the voice over intones, "He can communicate with the future". His future self of course, which is the young boy we see being Debicki kissing earlier.
So, yes, the above picture is mother and son.
What ever plan Branagh's character is plotting, he cannot allow Debicki's character to change it. Hence we get the below scene where she is held captive by Branagh.
Tsk, your own mother. Oh what a tangled web we weave. You'll also note from the picture above that Branagh's car is facing in a different direction than John David Washington's. A nice little metaphor for the movie and probably from the car chase we see earlier in the trailer where one of the cars "un-crashes".
I cannot wait for this for this movie. Damn you Covid-19! Do not mess with our geek lifestyle!
So, what are your thoughts? Is my theory plausible? Is the young boy really the "Inverted" Kenneth Branagh's or is it Robert Pattinson's character? (She wants him to grow up to be Batman.) Do you have your own theory?
Sound off below....
